OMG!. It is like I wrote this book. I am a Southerner, too, but hail from Florida. Different parts of Florida have different dialects and colloquialisms. I have to say, I am reading the exact things I say. And the "Can't Make this S#### up" is said a tad bit different - more salty, but I can relate to much of the author's life. From childhood to adult. How can I not like this book? I didn't set the backside of dumbness addressed, but, it always starts out with "you aren't gonna believe this" or "you can't make this S### up". who knows - there could be a followup.
Can't Make This Stuff Up! by Susannah B. Lewis is relatable and lovable. The stories Susannah shares will resonate with the reader long after they're done reading the book. Susannah shares her heart and you'll laugh and cry alongside her. Grief from the loss of (three) parents, being bullied in school and online by trolls, and parenting struggles make this woman someone we'd all love to call friend. She shares her life, lessons, and wisdom, all laced with the Word of God and Biblical principles. Looking for a fresh Christian book for women? Give this one a try.
You don't have to be from the South to enjoy this book. Her writing style is enjoyed by lots of folks. She's already a popular blogger and I hope there is a follow up to this one.Highly recommendedYou will probably thank me for suggesting you read it.

She is of a different generation and gender from me, but having lived more than 30 years in the South at different points in my life, I thought I’d look at her style and messages.This is a 200 page book in 12 chapters. Her values are often shared through her stories, with a Southern focus or twist.These values are included in stories about:• Losing her parents ( her mother was a more central figure)• Stray dogs and cats that her father often brought home (her mother was afraid of cats)• Growing up situations of pets, high school and some of the hang-ups we all have stories• Cabbage Patch dolls – need one say more?• Becoming a parent• Dealing with children and sportsReligion plays an important role in Lewis’s messages. Some of her stories are tongue in cheek while others show her beliefs, concerns and commitments for herself and those around her.Lewis’s style is her own, but I must say I see a blend of some:1. Erma Bombeck – great stories about everyday people with an amusing twist2. Lewis Grizzard – a self-proclaimed southern redneck style writer who loved to share funny stories about all of his extended family and3. This book made me laugh! She helped me get over the dumps I’ve been in. My mother died a few months ago and I have had a hard time getting past losing her. The author talked about losing her mother & helped me put losing my mother in perspective. It was as if she knew exactly like I felt. Her humor helped me to laugh out loud. She is a new favorite author of nonfiction. I think everyone, especially women will enjoy this book! Highly recommended!
